Pathy's Parent Tips
Before a meal or snack, turn off all screens and sit at a table, if possible. Be present with your loved ones!
You want to engage in upbeat, non-food-related conversation with your family during meals and snacks. For example:
-
Discuss things that happened throughout the day or over the weekend that the child or family enjoyed
-
Share experiences and stories from the day
-
Give compliments like “I loved the way that you were able to say please and thank you to your teacher today” or “I appreciate that you set the table”
-
Don’t comment on how much your child is eating or what your child is eating
The key is remembering to make family members feel loved for who they are and not what they eat.
